As far as the works are concerned, what feels most noteworthy to me as I look back, is how important they were in defining the painting technique that I have gone on to expand upon and use since. 2014 through 2016 were the years I really started to hone the paint and make it do what I wanted it to do; bending the rules I had been taught to make them work for me. Imagery wise, I stayed with a darker palette and used the fig in various states of reveal: the red is how I imagined the peeled fig being. In doing so I was exploring how the various elements of my work interacted.
