Upcoming: Porous Bodies: Diane Chappalley

September 8 - October 6, 2026
  • Cactus Moon Studio is delighted to present Porous Bodies, a solo online exhibition by Swiss-born, London-based artist Diane Chappalley. Launching on 8th September 2026, this inaugural exhibition marks the beginning of Cactus Moon Studio’s programme.

Working primarily in oils on raw linen, Chappalley creates richly atmospheric worlds populated by flowers, roots, terrain, and cosmic forms. These elements emerge, merge, and dissolve into one another within hazy, unconventional landscapes. Resisting fixed interpretation, the works invite viewers into imaginative and deeply evocative realms, where familiar forms become fluid and boundaries between the earthly and the otherworldly begin to blur.

Diane Chappalley is a London-based artist whose practice spans painting and ceramics, exploring processes of becoming. Her paintings depict atmospheric environments where inner and outer worlds dissolve, holding the ordinary and the magical in tension. Figures often appear suspended within these landscapes, while recurring motifs such as flowers, hearts, seeds, and roots intertwine to form fluid systems.

Chappalley studied at the Bern University of the Arts before moving to London, where she completed a BA at the City & Guilds of London Art School in 2015, followed by an MA at the Slade School of Fine Art, University College London, in 2017. Recent solo exhibitions include Megan Mulrooney Gallery, Los Angeles (US); Lychee One, London (UK); and Taymour Grahne Projects, London (UK). Selected group exhibitions include Cell & Love and Hypha Studios, London (UK); WOAW Gallery, Hong Kong (HK); KIAF, presented by COB Gallery, Seoul (KR); COMA Gallery, Sydney (AU); Tube Culture Hall, Milan (IT); Cedric Bardawil, London (UK); Block 336, London (UK); and Informality Gallery, Oxfordshire (UK).

Her work is held in several private and public collections, including the HSBC Art Collection, London (UK); the University of Oxford (UK); X Museum, Beijing (CN); the Contemporary Art Collection CHUV, Lausanne (CH); and the Musée Gruérien, Bulle (CH).
